Santo Domingo, May 23th 2019 -‐ The Haitian-Dominican Movement Azueï https://www.facebook.com/artistazuei/ is embarking on a new and exciting adventure, the production of an independent, 100% Haitian-Dominican music album that will be recorded in the Dominican Republic this summer 2019.

This album project, which continues the progress of the movement created in August 2015, will allow the creation of a new kind of LP, symbolizing the plural identity of the island of Kiskeya and of Caribbean scope.

The Movement is launching its fundraising campaign and calls upon all those who believe in a better representation of the island's culture in a spirit of peace and conviviality.  

Azueï is counting on support from the Haitian organization, Fokal but needs extra funds for the project. For this reason, the Azueï Movement calls on the support of individuals, media, organizations and companies to support it in this important initiative. The participatory fundraising campaign on Kick Starter starts on April 25, 2019 AND ENDS ON JUNE 3RD and is accompanied by an original and unifying communication campaign on social networks in the same creative spirit as the Azueï Movement. AzueÏ is a movement of Haitian and Dominican artists, people committed to the promotion of a culture of peace that seeks to guarantee a space for dialogue through art and culture between the two peoples who share the Island of Kiskeya.

The AzueiÏ Movement, born on the shores of the Lake that separates the Republic of Haiti from the Dominican Republic, took as its name the same name of this natural border common to both countries, the taïno name AZUEï. Dismantle prejudices of any kind, valorizing the richness of our island’s heritage and the proximity of our respective cultures, this is our mission.

Azuei is the expression of a third voice, capable of developing and spreading messages of love, exchange and dialogue between our two peoples. For us, difference is a strength, a real wealth for our cultures, and cultural fusion is an inexhaustible source of inspiration to enhance the island's heritage and respective cultures.
