Mme Susan D. Page a été nommée Représentante spéciale adjointe du Secrétaire général (État de droit) à la Mission des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en Haïti (MINUSTAH) le 16 janvier 2017.
Avant d'être nommée par le Secrétaire général des Nations Unies, Mme Page a été la première ambassadrice des États-Unis au Soudan du Sud, puis Ambassadrice des États-Unis auprès de l'Union africaine et de la Commission économique des Nations Unies pour l'Afrique.
De plus, Mme Page a occupé le poste de Conseillère principale au Bureau de l'Envoyé spécial des États-Unis pour le Soudan et le Sud-Soudan ; elle a été Secrétaire d'État adjointe aux affaires africaines aux États-Unis et a travaillé comme agent du service extérieur au Kenya, au Botswana et au Rwanda. Elle a joué un rôle clé dans la médiation du conflit au Soudan qui a abouti à l'Accord de paix global pour le Soudan en 2005. Mme Page apporte également une vaste expérience des Nations Unies en matière de primauté du droit, puisqu'elle a été directrice de l'unité consultative chargée de l'état de droit à la Mission des Nations Unies au Soudan (UNMIS) et conseillère juridique principale du Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement) au Soudan et au Rwanda.
Madame Page a un doctorat en Droit de Harvard et une License en Anglais avec la plus haute distinction. Elle a reçu des certificats avec Mention et Distinction en Anglais et Psychologie de l’Université de St. Andrews de l’Écosse et a conduit des recherches sur les droits des femmes et des mineurs au Népal au biais d’une bourse universitaire de troisième cycle du Rotary International. Mme Page est originaire de Chicago ; elle est mariée et est mère d’un fils. Elle parle anglais et français.

United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH)
Ms. Susan D. Page was appointed as Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (Rule of Law) to the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) on 16 January 2017.
Prior to her appointment by the United Nations Secretary General, Ms. Page served as the first United States Ambassador to South Sudan, after which she was the Acting United States Ambassador to the African Union and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
As well, Ms. Page held the position of Senior Advisor in the Office of the United States Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, served as United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs and worked as a foreign service officer in Kenya, Botswana, and Rwanda. She played a key role in the mediation of the conflict in Sudan that resulted in the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement for Sudan. Ms. Page also brings extensive United Nations experience in rule of law, having worked as the Director of the Rule of Law Advisory Unit in the United Nations Mission in the Sudan (UNMIS) and as Senior Legal Adviser for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sudan and in Rwanda.
Ms. Page holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Harvard Law School and a degree in English with High Distinction from the University of Michigan. She received certificates of Merit and Distinction in English and Psychology from St. Andrews University in Scotland and conducted research on women’s and children’s rights in Nepal under a Rotary International postgraduate fellowship. Ms. Page is originally from Chicago and is married with one son. She speaks English and French.
