Port-au-Prince, 9 March 2016 : The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the other members of the international community in Haiti represented in the "Core Group" (the Ambassadors of Brazil, Canada, France, Spain, United States of America, the European Union and the Special Representative of the Organization of American States) met today with Provisional President, Mr. JocelermePrivert to discuss the implementation of the 5 February political Accord which provides for institutional continuity and the continuation of the 2015 electoral process.

 While reiterating the importance of fully implementing this political Accord, the “Core Group” stressed the importance of taking the steps necessary to ensure the proper functioning of State and government institutions as well as the completion of the electoral process with the organization of the second round of the presidential election, the re-runs of the partial legislative elections as well as the local elections, within the allocated timeframes.

 The “Core Group” remains confident that all stakeholders will ensure that the best interests of Haiti and its people will prevail, in the spirit of dialogue and consensus, to conclude the political and electoral process underway.
